Better Speech and Hearing Month
June 1, 2021
May was Better Speech and Hearing Month and we want to introduce our speech and hearing expert!
Meet Marla! Marla is our speech therapist at Admiral’s Pointe. Speech therapy encompasses everything from dysphagia (swallowing difficulties), cognition, and communication. Marla works with many of our residents and departments for a multitude of reasons. One area of experience that Marla works on daily is diet modification. She works with our dietary team to create a safe meal list if a resident is having difficulty swallowing. Marla also works with residents for other safety concerns, problem-solving, memory, and voice/communication skills to improve their overall quality of life. She works closely with the nurses, dietary staff, Occupational therapists, and Physical Therapists on a daily basis.

Marla is such an important part of our team at Admiral's Pointe. Our skilled nursing facility is committed to finding experienced individuals that do the right things for the right reasons.
She went to school at the University of Toledo and has special interests in dysphagia and the stroke population. She has been an SLP for 1.5 years and has been at Admiral’s Pointe for almost a year. Marla lives in Avon Lake and dreams of someday vacationing in Bora Bora!
